A pivot language is an intermediary bridge language used in multilingual conferences when direct language pairs between booths do not exist. For example, during an Arabic speech at an event requiring French, Mandarin, and Spanish, the Arabic booth renders the speech into English (the pivot). Downstream booths listen to the English channel and interpret into French and Mandarin.
